The names Eric Weicht, and I’m a 22 year old dude from the Twin Cities who has decided that the best way to celebrate my recent graduation from college is to spend the summer attempting to paddle all the way around Lake Superior. This brilliant idea came to me while spending the summer a couple of years ago up on the Gunflint trail working for Hungry Jack Outfitters, for as much as I loved the little 2 or 3 day trips through the BWCA that I would go on in my time off, there was one huge issue with the trips: they always ended so quickly! This desire for a longer trip, coupled with my love and appreciation for Lake Superior, led me to explore the possibility of spending a summer out on the big lake, which eventually led to the purchasing of my own kayak, which then led to me spending a lot of time kayaking the Minnesotan shoreline of Superior, and then ultimately (after two years of research, practice, and planning) leading to the situation I find myself in now where I am a day away from embarking on quite the little paddling adventure.
